Brownie Batter

  • 1.5 cups sugar for that sweet, inviting flavor
  • 1 cup sour cream adding a creamy tang and moisture
  • 0.5 cups butter, softened to lend richness and tenderness
  • 2 large eggs binding the ingredients together in harmony
  • 1.75 cups ripe bananas, mashed (about 3 to 4 bananas), offering natural sweetness
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract infusing every bite with aromatic warmth
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (can substitute with a gluten-free flour mix), providing structure and body
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda giving the brownies that perfect rise
  • 0.75 teaspoon salt enhancing flavors and balancing sweetness
  • 0.5 cups chopped walnuts (optional), infusing a delightful crunch and nutty goodness

Frosting

  • 0.5 cups butter for the frosting, ensuring a luscious finish
  • 4 cups powdered sugar creating a smooth and sweet glaze
  • 1.5 teaspoons vanilla extract for a fragrant touch
  • 3 tablespoons milk (adjust for desired consistency), ensuring the frosting is perfectly spreadable

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan thoroughly to prevent sticking.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, ensuring each is well incorporated.
  • Incorporate the mashed bananas and vanilla extract into the mixture.

Mixing Dry Ingredients

  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  • If using walnuts, fold them in gently.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Frosting

  • While the brownies are baking, prepare the frosting by beating together the butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  • Once the brownies are fully cooled, spread the frosting evenly over the top.

Serving

  • Cut into squares, serve, and enjoy the blend of banana and chocolate flavors.

Notes

For best results, use very ripe bananas and allow the brownies to cool completely before frosting. This recipe can be adapted to gluten-free by using an appropriate flour mix.
