Ingredients

Crust

  • 1.5 cups graham cracker crumbs These will form the base of your dessert, providing a crunchy and buttery crust.
  • 0.5 cup butter Melted butter adds richness and helps bind the crumbs together.

Cheesecake Filling

  • 2 packages cream cheese (softened) The star of the cheesecake filling, providing a creamy and velvety texture.
  • 0.5 cup sugar Sweetens the filling, balancing the tartness of the apples.
  • 2 large eggs (beaten) Eggs help set the cheesecake for a smooth, firm texture.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Adds a warm, aromatic flavor that enhances the cheesecake.

Apple Layer

  • 3 cups apples (peeled and sliced) Use your favorite apples; they add a tender, fruity layer that complements the cheesecake.

Topping

  • 0.5 cup caramel sauce (for drizzling) Rich and gooey, caramel sauce adds the finishing touch to your bars.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs and melted butter until well blended. Press this mixture firmly into the bottom of a greased 9x13 inch baking dish to create a solid base.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes until set. Let it cool while you prepare the filling.

Make the Filling

  • In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with sugar until creamy and smooth.
  • Add in the beaten eggs and vanilla extract, blending well until everything is fully incorporated. Be careful not to overmix.

Prepare the Apples

  • While the filling is coming together, peel and slice your apples. You can choose to toss them with a bit of cinnamon for extra flavor.

Assemble the Bars

  • Spread the cheesecake filling evenly over the cooled crust.
  • Evenly distribute the sliced apples on top of the cheesecake layer.
  • Drizzle your caramel sauce over the apples generously.

Bake

  • Return the baking dish to the oven and bake for 35-40 minutes. The edges should be slightly set while the center remains a little jiggly.

Cool and Serve

  • Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool completely at room temperature.
  • Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or ideally overnight to help the bars set properly.
  • When ready to serve, slice into squares and enjoy.

Notes

Ensure your cream cheese is at room temperature for easy mixing. You can slice the apples and make the crust the day before to save time. Keep an eye on the baking time to avoid overcooking.
