Ingredients
  

For the Shortbread Base

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Levelled for that perfect texture
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter Softened to creamy perfection
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar Adding just the right amount of sweetness

For the Caramel Layer

  • 14 oz condensed milk Provides a rich and gooey layer

For the Chocolate Topping

  • 4 oz dark chocolate Chopped into pieces to melt beautifully

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) for even baking.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 0.5 cup of softened unsalted butter, and 0.25 cup of granulated sugar. Mix until a crumbly mixture forms.
  • Press the mixture evenly into a lined 8-inch square baking pan.
  • Bake the crust in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until lightly golden.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, pour the 14 oz of condensed milk. Stir continuously until it thickens, about 10 minutes.
  • Spread the caramel evenly over the baked shortbread base.
  • Melt the 4 oz of dark chocolate using a double boiler or microwave in 30-second intervals until smooth.
  • Pour the melted chocolate over the caramel layer and spread it to cover completely.
  • Allow the bars to cool completely at room temperature or refrigerate for about 2 hours until set.
  • Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

For best results, cool bars completely before cutting. Consider adding a sprinkle of sea salt on top before serving.
