  • 2 cups Shredded romaine lettuce Adds freshness and crunch.
  • 1 large Ripe tomato Slice thick for a hearty bite.
  • 1 medium Sweet onion Adds a delicate, aromatic layer.
  • Ketchup, to taste A classic condiment.
  • Mustard, to taste For a slightly tangy kick.

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, gently combine the ground beef with salt and pepper without overworking the meat. Form into four equally sized burger patties slightly larger than the buns.
  • Heat your grill or stovetop pan over medium-high heat.

Cooking

  • Once hot, place the patties on the grill or pan. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side.
  • Flip each patty, add a slice of sharp cheddar on top, and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes.
  • Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in the oven until golden brown.

Assembly

  • Start with the bottom bun, layer on the juicy patty, followed by shredded romaine, a slice of tomato, sweet onion rings, and condiments.
  • Add the top bun and press down gently.

Notes

Use high-quality beef for better flavor. For extra juiciness, make a small indentation in the center of each patty.
