Ingredients

For the Orzo

  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil A rich, fruity oil that adds depth and helps sauté the garlic.
  • 1 tbsp Unsalted Butter For extra creamy richness.
  • 4 cloves Garlic (minced) Aromatic and flavorful; the star of this dish.
  • 1.5 cups Orzo (uncooked) Perfect for absorbency.
  • 4 cups Chicken Broth (low sodium) For a savory base.
  • 0.5 cup Heavy Cream Adds luxurious creaminess.
  • 0.75 cup Parmesan Cheese (freshly grated) Essential for cheesy richness.
  • 0.5 tsp Salt (or to taste) To enhance flavors.
  • 0.25 tsp Black Pepper (freshly ground) For a gentle kick of spice.
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Parsley (chopped, for garnish) Adds color and freshness.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil and butter. Allow the butter to melt and begin to sizzle.
  • Once melted, introduce the minced garlic and cook for 30-60 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add the uncooked orzo, stirring continuously for about 2-3 minutes until it’s lightly toasted and golden.
  • Pour in the chicken broth and stir well. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, then reduce the heat to low.
  • Cover the skillet and let the orzo cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Uncover and fold in the heavy cream and grated Parmesan cheese. Stir until the cheese melts.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

To prevent sticking, stir frequently during cooking. Consider substituting heavy cream for half-and-half for a lighter version.
