  • 1.5 cups beef broth Provides a savory base for the sauce.
  • 10.5 oz can cream of mushroom soup Makes the sauce luscious and comforting.
  • 1 oz beefy onion soup mix Enhances the overall flavor.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine the lean ground beef, Italian-style bread crumbs, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well incorporated.
  • Divide the mixture into equal-sized portions and form them into oval-shaped patties.

Cooking

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes on each side until browned.
  • In the same skillet, sauté sliced onions, mushrooms, and minced garlic until the onions are translucent.
  • In a bowl, whisk together beef broth, cream of mushroom soup, and beefy onion soup mix.
  • Pour half of the sauce into the crockpot. Place the browned patties on top, then add the sautéed vegetables. Pour the remaining sauce over everything.
  • Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.

Serving

  • Serve the Salisbury steak with rich gravy poured over the top.

Notes

Consider adding fresh herbs for extra flavor. Ground turkey can be used instead of beef for a healthier twist. To save time, prepare the patties and sauté the vegetables the night before.
