  • 3 cups beef broth Enhances the beef and noodles.
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce Elevates the umami profile.
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder Infuses a mellow garlic essence.
  • 8 oz egg noodles Absorbs the delicious flavors.
  • 8 slices provolone cheese Melts on top to create a luxurious finish.
  • 0.33 cup crispy fried onions Adds an irresistible crunch.

Preparation

  • Melt the tablespoon of salted butter in a large skillet over medium heat, then add the ground beef. Cook until browned, stirring and breaking it up, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  • Stir in the packet of French onion soup mix, the can of condensed French onion soup, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix until combined.
  • Add garlic powder to the mixture and simmer gently for about 10 minutes.
  • While the beef mixture simmers, prepare egg noodles according to package instructions. Drain excess water and add noodles to the beef mixture. Stir well.
  • Layer the provolone cheese evenly over the noodle and beef mixture. Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook until the cheese is melted, about 5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and sprinkle crispy fried onions over the top before serving.

Notes

Try mixing different cheeses for added flavor, or using fresh herbs like thyme or parsley. This dish can also be made in a slow cooker for a hands-off approach. Serve with a crisp green salad or crusty bread.
