Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef for about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, and black pepper. Stir until well incorporated.
- Arrange a layer of sliced potatoes at the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Pour half of the beef mixture over the layer of potatoes.
- Place another layer of sliced potatoes on top, followed by the remaining beef mixture and finally, one last layer of potatoes.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top layer of potatoes.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for about 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes.
- Let it sit for about 10-15 minutes before serving.
Notes
For added flavor, consider spices like garlic powder or Italian seasoning. You can also make this casserole in advance and store it for later.
