For the Tuna

  • 4 pieces Tuna steaks Choose high-quality fresh tuna.

Preparation

  • Finely chop the fresh cilantro and garlic.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped cilantro, garlic, capers, lime juice, and red pepper flakes.
  • Add the kosher salt and black pepper.
  • Slowly drizzle in the olive oil while stirring until well combined.
  • Set aside to let the flavors meld.

Cooking

  • Pat the tuna steaks dry with a paper towel.
  • Season the tuna on both sides with kosher salt and black pepper.
  • Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and drizzle with olive oil.
  • Carefully place the tuna steaks in the skillet and sear each side for 2-3 minutes.
  • Aim for a beautifully browned crust while keeping the center rare.

Serving

  • Remove the seared tuna from the skillet and let it rest for a minute.
  • Slice the tuna steaks into thick slices.
  • On each plate, add a scoop of avocado salsa verde beside the sliced tuna.
  • Sprinkle with additional cilantro if desired.
