Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 14 ounces Firm tofu (pressed for 15-20 minutes) Achieves a creamy texture.
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil Perfect for sautéing to a golden brown.
  • 1/3 cup Honey Natural sweetness that blends beautifully.
  • 3 cloves Garlic (minced) For robust aroma.
  • 1/4 cup Low-sodium soy sauce Salty yet subtle.
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame oil Adds an aromatic touch.
  • 2 tablespoons Green onions (chopped) For garnish.
  • 4 cups Cooked rice or quinoa For serving, providing a satisfying base.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Begin by pressing the tofu for 15-20 minutes to remove excess moisture.
  • Once pressed, cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes.

Cooking

  • Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  • Add tofu cubes carefully and fry until they are golden brown on all sides, about 8-10 minutes.
  • In a small mixing bowl, combine honey, minced garlic, low-sodium soy sauce, and sesame oil.
  • Mix well until the honey is fully dissolved in the liquid.
  • Once the tofu is nicely browned, pour the honey garlic sauce over it.
  • Gently toss to coat every piece of tofu and allow it to simmer for another 2-3 minutes.

Serving

  • Sprinkle chopped green onions on top for added color and flavor.
  • Serve the sticky honey garlic tofu over a bed of cooked rice or quinoa.

Notes

Ensure to press the tofu to avoid a watery texture. Fresh ingredients elevate the flavors significantly. Keep the sauté pan on medium heat to prevent burning the garlic.
