Preparation

  • Place 1.5 pounds of peeled and deveined shrimp in a pot of boiling salted water and cook for about 2-3 minutes, or until they turn pink and opaque.
  • Drain the shrimp in a colander and run them under cold water to stop the cooking process.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked shrimp with 2 tablespoons of Old Bay seasoning and ensure every piece is well-coated.
  • Add 0.5 cup of mayonnaise and 1 tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice to the bowl; stir gently until well combined.
  • Fold in 0.5 cup of diced celery and 2 tablespoons of finely chopped red onion, mixing well.
  • Taste your salad and adjust the Old Bay seasoning or lemon juice as desired.
  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld together.
  • Serve the Old Bay Shrimp Salad on a bed of fresh greens, or in sandwiches, wraps, or on crackers.

Notes

For a healthier option, substitute Greek yogurt for mayonnaise. Ensure not to overcook shrimp for best texture. Chill the salad if time allows for richer flavor.
