  • 1.5 pounds ground beef Opt for a lean variety.
  • 2 cups breadcrumbs Homemade breadcrumbs are recommended.
  • 1 cup milk Whole milk for creaminess.
  • 1 large egg Beaten, to serve as a binder.
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder Adds sweetness and depth.
  • 1 teaspoon salt Essential for flavor.
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper Freshly ground for spice.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, whole milk, beaten egg, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well, being careful not to overmix.
  • Divide the mixture into portions to shape into 4-6 large patties, roughly 1-inch thick.

Cooking

  • In a large skillet, heat a little oil over medium-high heat and brown the patties for 3-4 minutes on each side.
  • Transfer the browned patties to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until cooked through.

Serving

  • Let the patties rest for a few minutes before serving with your favorite sides.

Notes

Use Fresh Ingredients: Fresh breadcrumbs from day-old bread will enhance flavor. You can experiment with spices by adding garlic powder or dried herbs. Don't skip browning for a flavorful crust.
