Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 large Portobello mushrooms These meaty mushrooms serve as the star of the dish.
  • 2 tbsp olive oil Adds a rich, fruity flavor and enhances umami.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder Infuses the dish with aromatic notes.
  • 0.5 tsp salt Essential for boosting flavors.
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper Adds a touch of heat.
  • 4 pieces burger buns Choose your favorite soft buns.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Rinse the Portobello mushrooms gently under cold water to remove any dirt. Pat them dry with a paper towel and remove the stems.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Brush this mixture generously over both sides of the mushroom caps.

Cooking

  • Heat a grill pan or outdoor grill over medium-high heat. Place the mushrooms cap-side down and cook for about 5-7 minutes.
  • Flip the mushrooms and continue cooking for another 5-7 minutes until they are tender and juicy.
  • While the mushrooms are cooking, slice the burger buns in half. Place them on the grill or in a toaster until golden and slightly crispy.

Assembly

  • Place a cooked Portobello mushroom on each toasted bun half. Add your favorite toppings like lettuce, tomato, or avocado.
  • Top with the other half of the buns, serve, and enjoy!

Notes

Consider adding marinaded grilled peppers or a slice of creamy avocado on top. A sprinkle of feta or goat cheese can enhance flavors.
