Instructions
 

Cooking the Pasta

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, add the dried short pasta, and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
  • Reserve about a cup of the pasta cooking water, then drain the pasta and set it aside.

Preparing the Broccoli

  • Wash the broccoli, cut it into bite-sized florets, and peel the stems if necessary.

Sautéing Garlic & Broccoli

  • In a large skillet, heat the extra virgin olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add the broccoli florets, season with salt and pepper, and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently.

Combining Ingredients

  • Reduce the heat to low, stir in the cooked pasta along with lemon zest, lemon juice, sugar, and mixed dried herbs.
  • Toss everything together, adding reserved pasta water gradually until achieving desired sauce consistency.

Adding Cheese & Serving

  • Sprinkle in the shredded cheese and finely grated parmesan, tossing gently to combine.
  • Allow the heat to slightly melt the cheese, making the dish creamy and rich.
