Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh shrimp (peeled and deveined) The stars of the dish, providing flavor in every bite.
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce Enhances the shrimp's umami notes.
  • 1 tsp sesame oil Adds a nutty depth.
  • 1 cup bell peppers (sliced) Adds color and satisfying crunch.
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (dissolved in 2 tbsp water) Thickening agent for a silky sauce.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Rinse the fresh shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel.
  • Slice the bell peppers into thin strips and set them aside.

Marination

  • In a medium bowl, combine the shrimp with soy sauce and sesame oil. Toss to coat.
  • Let the shrimp marinate for 15-20 minutes.

Cooking

  • Heat a large non-stick skillet or wok over medium-high heat until hot.
  • Add the marinated shrimp in a single layer and sear for 2-3 minutes until pink and opaque.
  • Flip shrimp and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Add sliced bell peppers and stir-fry for 2 minutes until slightly tender.
  • Pour in dissolved cornstarch and stir well to thicken the sauce for an additional minute.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning, adding salt or extra soy sauce if desired.
  • Remove from heat and serve, garnishing with chopped green onions or sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

For an extra kick, add chili sauce or red pepper flakes. Ensure the pan is adequately heated for the best sear. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to three days.
