For the Filling

  • 1 cup Crab meat (fresh or canned, drained) Sweet and flaky
  • 8 oz Cream cheese (softened) Rich and creamy
  • 1 cup Shredded cheddar cheese Sharp cheddar preferred, nutty and robust
  • 2 tbsp Fresh parsley (chopped) Vibrant and aromatic
  • 1 tbsp Fresh dill (chopped) Herbaceous and fragrant
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder For a savory touch
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice (freshly squeezed) Zesty and fresh

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Slice off the top of the crusty bread loaf to create a lid and hollow out the inside, leaving a thick shell.
  • Save the bread insides for dipping or making breadcrumbs.

Filling

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese with the chopped shrimp and crab meat.
  • Add garlic powder, lemon juice, parsley, and dill, mixing until well blended.
  • Gently stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Spoon the filling into the hollowed-out bread loaf, mounding it slightly above the edges.

Baking

  • Place the filled loaf on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  • Allow to cool for about 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For best results, use fresh seafood and avoid rushing the baking process. Allow the bread bowl to cool slightly before slicing.
