Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef Choose a lean cut for a healthier option, making each bite tender and juicy.
  • 1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves Brings an authentic Thai flair, infusing the rolls with a sweet, peppery aroma.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Adds a deep, aromatic layer of flavor.
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce Enhances the umami flavor without overwhelming the dish with saltiness.
  • 1 tbsp chili sauce Adds a spicy kick; adjust according to your heat preference.
  • 1 juice lime Brightens the flavors, providing a tangy contrast to the savory beef.
  • 8 pieces rice paper wrappers Provides a light and chewy texture for wrapping.
  • 1 cup thinly sliced carrots Adds a pop of color and a delightful crunch.
  • 1 cup thinly sliced bell peppers Boosts nutrition and adds a sweet, crisp texture.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large non-stick skillet over medium heat, add the lean ground beef. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Stir in the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Pour in the low-sodium soy sauce, chili sauce, and lime juice. Mix well.
  • Add the thinly sliced carrots and bell peppers to the beef mixture. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  • Fill a large plate with warm water and dip a rice paper wrapper for a few seconds, then lay it on a clean surface.
  • Spoon 2 tablespoons of the beef mixture onto the lower third of the rice paper and add a few Thai basil leaves. Fold the sides inward and roll from the bottom up.
  • Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling. Arrange the rolls on a serving dish.
  • Serve warm or at room temperature, with extra lime wedges and a side of dipping sauce.

Notes

For best flavor, marinate the beef and sauces for a while. Prepare all ingredients before cooking and soak rice paper correctly to avoid tearing.
